WAILUKU (AP) — Residents in south Maui have water service back after crews repaired a broken 18-inch transmission waterline.

WAILUKU (AP) — Residents in south Maui have water service back after crews repaired a broken 18-inch transmission waterline.

The line was repaired and service restored by 7:30 a.m. Monday, KHON-TV reported (https://bit.ly/1UzcdXQ).

Residents may have experienced no water service or low water pressure after the Sunday afternoon break, the Maui News reported (https://bit.ly/1J5pENa).

The Department of Water Supply made water tanks and two fire hydrants available for the public’s use. Low levels in storage tanks had officials asking residents to conserve how much water they used.

A broken water line is also affecting some Haiku residents. It’s unclear whether that break has been repaired.
